Daiwa Steez Soft Shell 90 Lure - Cray

When Daiwa introduced me to the Steez Soft Shell 90, I knew it would be a hit with anglers in Australia. The soft shell cicada and soft vibe are two of the most popular lures on the market, so it was a no-brainer to stock the full range of Daiwa Steel Soft Shell 90s.

It's undoubtedly no cicada, but it is a soft vibe in a yabby or crayfish format. The presentation is fantastic, the action unbeatable, and it's a lure that will surely catch plenty of big fish, especially for freshwater crustacean-loving fish like yellowbelly.

Designed utilising two traits of an actual cray, It was no easy feat for Daiwa Australia to design and develop the Steel Soft Shell 90, but after much tinkering and refinement, they've come up with a new concept in vibe lures that was well worth the wait. This lure is a prime example of Daiwa's dedication to providing Australian anglers with the best and most innovative fishing tackle for our domestic market.

The Steez Soft Shell 90 vibe has a length of 90mm, a weight of 19g and is available in several fish-triggering colours. It features a soft shell body with a through wire tail vibe insert that gives it an irresistible action yet incredible strength and durability. I'm confident that the Steez Soft Shell 90 will become a staple in many Aussie anglers' tackle boxes, and I'm sure it will play a big part in plenty of new personal bests being set in the years to come.

Is the Daiwa Steez Soft Shell a freshwater or saltwater fishing lure?

The Daiwa Steez Soft Shell is versatile and can be used in fresh and saltwater conditions. It's an ideal choice for targeting specific species like yellowbelly or barramundi in freshwater dams, lakes, and rivers. On the other end of the spectrum, it's also a fantastic option for saltwater species like flathead, jewfish, snapper and Mulloway around estuarine sand flats, break walls and deep water drop-offs.

How do you fish with the Daiwa Steez Soft Shell?

The Daiwa Steez Soft Shell can be fished in a variety of ways, including the hop or shake retrieve down deep. It's also effective when slow rolled around submerged timber or rock structures in fresh and saltwater. As with most vibe lures, the key to success is in action, so make sure you experiment until you find what works best on the day. There are two tow points, so you can customise your rig to fish it how you want.

How does the Steez Soft Shell sit on pause?

The Steez Soft Shell has a unique design that allows it to sit on an angle with claws up on the pause. That is important as fish are often most receptive to lures that retain a defence posture when at rest. It's a fantastic way to trigger reaction strikes from inquisitive fish.

What are the most popular colours?

For yellowbelly, we are finding that the most productive are Black Chart, Ghost cherry, Ben Ten and lucky cat. For Snapper and Flathead, the most popular colours are Haze Shrimp, Spawn Shrimp, Mud Shrimp and Glitter Shrimp. Australian bass will take any of the more natural presentations. However, all fish are often most responsive to a change in colour or pattern, so don't be afraid to experiment.

Do you need a special rod or reel to fish the Steez Soft Shell?

No, the Steez Soft Shell can be fished on any quality baitcasting or spinning outfit. However, just ensure your rod can cast lure weights of 19 grams.
