A Tackle Shop Guide to the Shimano Evair Marine Shoe
While the original clog-style Evair shoe is very popular for its slip-on convenience, we get a lot of anglers in the shop who want that same lightweight, non-marking material but in a shoe that feels more secure for walking around. This model, the Shimano Evair Marine Shoe, is the answer. It's built from the same lightweight EVA, but it’s designed as a proper sandal with a side strap, giving you a much more locked-in fit for moving around the boat.
A Note From Our Local Experts
"We'd recommend this model to the angler who is a bit more active on the boat. The original Evair clog is great for just slipping on and off. This sandal version, with the strap and heel support, is the one you want if you're walking around the deck, casting, or moving to the bow in a bit of swell. The design of this model we sell just gives you that extra confidence that it's not going to slip off. It's still got that all-important non-marking sole, which is a very good reason why our customers like the Shimano Evair shoe range."

Decoding the Features: What Matters
This shoe is designed for active boaters, combining the clog's benefits with a sandal's secure fit. Here’s what the components are for.
Pro-Tips: How to Look After Your Evairs
- Don't 'Cook' Them: This is the most common mistake. These shoes are made of EVA. Like any EVA product, they can warp or deform if left in extreme, direct heat. Don't leave them on the hot dashboard of your car or on a metal boat deck in the blazing sun all day. Store them in a shaded spot.
- Cleaning is Simple: This is their strength. After a session, just hose them off. Fish blood, bait, and squid ink wash right off the non-porous surface. Don't use harsh solvents, just soap and water.
- Check the Sole: This sole is for non-slip on a boat deck. It is *not* a rock-fishing boot. Walking on sharp surfaces like oyster racks or gravel boat ramps will damage the soft EVA sole.
Technical Specifications
We stock a range of men's sizes. As these are a unisex design, we find that for women's sizing, you should go down two sizes (e.g., a Men's 8 is roughly a Women's 10).

Frequently Asked Questions
What's the main difference: this shoe or the 'clog' style Evair?
The choice comes down to fit. The clog is a simple, backless slip-on shoe that's very easy to get on and off. This model is a 'marine sandal' with a side strap. It's the one to choose if you're doing more walking or casting and want a shoe that feels locked onto your foot.
How does the sizing run? What if I'm a half-size?
The fit is reasonably wide and true to size. They do not come in half-sizes. As a general rule we see in the shop, if you are a half-size (e.g., 10.5), it is usually best to size *down* (to a 10). A snug fit is better, as a loose, sloppy shoe is uncomfortable.
Can I wear these for rock fishing or as reef shoes?
No. We would strongly advise against it. The sole is not designed for sharp surfaces like oyster racks or slimy ocean rocks. The EVA material is soft and will be cut or punctured. For that, you need a dedicated rock fishing boot.
If they don't fit, can I swap them for a different size?
Yes, please return the post to our store along with a copy of the receipt and a short note stating which size you would like to have them swapped for.
Are the Evair Shoes Unisex?
Yes, however, the sizing is sold as "mens" size. Usually, the difference between a lady's and a mens shoe is around a 2-size difference: IE, size 8 mens = an approximate size 10 in a lady's. As the beginning size in the Evair range is a mens 8, our offering will only be limited to women with larger feet.
